Dismantling Felling and Land Clearance
All trees need felling at some stage, either they have reached full maturity and outlived their useful lives as amenity/ forestry trees, or may be in a position where there is no option but to remove the tree for development or safety reasons.
Crown is able to remove trees of any size and in any location – from clearing young saplings to create a more diverse conservation habitat in ancient and amenity woodlands, to felling in sections, fully mature or dead trees in difficult locations, where safety is of paramount importance.
We use the most modern equipment, including wood chippers that will shred branches up to 7" diameter, stump grinders that will grind the stump to below ground level, and also cranes and winches for removing large pieces of timber whilst causing minimal disturbance. All this is backed up by the latest arboricultural techniques.
Initial decision regarding the stump:
When felling is prescribed, a decision should be made initially as to whether the stump is to be killed by chemical treatment and left in situ, mechanically chipped (see videos page), or retained untreated giving great ecological importance.
Underground structures:
Underground structers (pipes, cables and foundations) which can be damaged directly during tree felling work should be identified and protected from damage.
Indirect damage as a result of highly shrinkable soils re-wetting or of roots rotting is difficult to predict, but the possibility of indirect damage should be recognized.
Trees in confined spaces:
Trees in confined spaces, or near to other trees or shrubs which are to be retained, should be carefully dismantled in sections with the use of ropes, rigs, cranes, winches, hydraulic platforms etc.... to ensure the job is carried out and completed safely.
